I have been thinking about the toyota d44 hybrid axles using d44 outers. However I recall a debate here on POR about a year ago debaing 10 bolt vs. d44 strenghts. From what I remember the 10 bolt had stonger knuckles and housing, but had thinner tubes and 28 spline shafts. This was a while ago and I can't find the thread anymore. Anyone who knows the two axles wanna help me here. Just wondering if using 10bolt outers would be stronger then using d44 outers in a toyota hybrid axle??

10 bolt fronts are no stronger then d-44 because they are the same parts

if they both use the same parts how would you tell the difference between the 10 bolt and a D44?

10bolt outers are the same as the d44's. the difference is all in the pig and the spline count on the shafts. shaft size, u-joint size, knuckes, etc. are all the same between the two .
