I have some rockstomper shock hoops to put on my 81 pickup. After measuring and contemplating I have figured out I have two options to mount them.

First of these are pretty long hoops, and I cannot weld them flat to the frame because the inner fenderwell is to small. The shock mounting tabs are also on the outside of the hoop, unlike the allpro shock hoops wich are on the inside.

Therefore I can eithier hack most of the fender well out and mount them flush with the frame. This would also place the mounting tab directly over the lower mount on the axle.

Or I could mount them at an angle like the allpro hoops. Thereby not having to cut the inner fender, however the mounting tab would no longer be directly over the lower mount.

So what would you sudjest and why?? Just curious.

Seems as though you get some stability probs in the front if you have to mount them at over say 20* but I dunno. rears are fine. Make sure your brce is welded well. Should be oK

All I can tell you is that if ytou mount them too far outward, you will run into the problem I had with my own shock hoops, where on extreme flex the compressed side tire was rubbing on the shock body.

DRM....that's a good thought, thanks. Hadn't thought about that.

Skyetone the reason the tab is on the outside is so I can add a brace on the inside.

2 inch body lift and a little persuasion with the 3# sledge hammer!
