I don't know if I can be much more vauge. But someone(who speaks poor english) in town told me there is a 79(square bezel) fj45 longbed for sale in or just outside Salem Or. $6500 and is suppose to be rot/rust free, motor won't turn over, but he said he crawled all over it and no rust. Suppose to have been a canadian 45. Its on a farm and can be seen from the road.......I think.

call 1 800 NOCLUEWHEREITIS for more info.........sorry :p

BTW the guy who told me about it does know what a 45 is........he has seen mine and knows cruisers from the middle east(he is Iranian)..........so I am sure its a 45.

John, I'm in Salem. Any possibility of goading your (edit)acquaintence for more info, like a direction to head from Salem? I've family in the area and travel roads often enough to know I've never seen this one.

If I know I can take and post pics and at least the owner's #. Will take another drive around today, but there's a lot of area to cover here (mostly farmland).

I think he said head to the right(no kiddin) So I dunno, i-5, heading west into Salem........I honestly have no clue, I'll try to find him again........but I hate to say this..........he drives me CRAZY! nice guy but damn he can get on my nerves....and i have no clue WTF he is saying.

he just found it when he was driving around.........I think he was picking up dump trailer, so maybe its by a trailer outfit.

I know I suck but thats all I know.

I'll take the obvious roads and see if I get lucky. If I do, pics to follow.

it was last weekend he saw it, not sure if a for sale sign or what.

I did mention the motor won't turn over? thought headgasket but it would still run, not like it makes a big diff, if its a solid 79 fj45 then IMOP $6500 is a pretty good deal running or not

I... is suppose to be rot/rust free, motor won't turn over, but he said he crawled all over it and no rust. Suppose to have been a canadian 45.

I have seen plenty of Canadian FJ45's, and not one of them would be something I would call 'rust free'. In fact when I have looked at 'light surface rust' on Canadian Cruisers, the definition must mena that there is not rot that would allow a loonie to fit through... :flipoff2:

Meanwhile I would love to pick up a 45, but it won't be cheap with the divorce calculated in to it... :(

Jim, MAN do I hear ya, I told(and asked 10 times about rot) the guy the same thing, I have never seen a rust free canadian 45(or?) BUT if this 45 had be bought in Canada and taking to OR when almost new(which was 100% possible).........well there is a chance its solid........a chance ;)

I think he told me something about powdercoated frame or ??????? heck I don't speak pigion iranian worth a damn

and I agree Canadians view rust free as not being able to see thru the frame or floors........ :shaking:

But if someone finds this 45 I will not be shocked to hear it has rot.

I know rust-free. I've had enough not rust free trucks beat into my pocketbook that I can smell the rust now.

My '81 BJ42 came over the border in '86. I don't know what shape it was in then, but now it's a total mess. Didn't help that it spent a lot of life in Oregon on a nice Willamette Valley tree farm, slogging through the wet muck and tall wet grass.

I think I know where this truck is now, just have to check after work. Gotta put on the good ol' landcruiser workaday clothes and take one of the diesels over. :grinpimp:

Don't worry, Pimp, I have a drivetrain itching to go into something- can you say '79 BJ45? :D

Hey PIMP, don`t count out a near rust free FJ45 as I picked one up that came out of Alberta, check it out on my website and you will see the cleanest frame I have ever come across(mind yu I never looked at your FJ40 frame).

Coool thing about the 79 is square bezel and undermount fuel tank which is to SWANK............
