I have a line on a running 85 T Bird with a 5.0 and AOD with less than 100k miles for $200.

Isnt 85 the first year for the roller cam 5.0?Will it be carbed or TBI (dont matter either way,Im gonna carb it)?The only thing I will be buying it is for the engine and tranny, but only if its a roller motor :D

The 4bbl mustang GT motors were roller with trw forged pistons.. other than that, I think all 85's were normal motors..

Also, stay away from ANY ford efi setup that isn't mpfi.

it shouldn't be a rollor cam'd engine. it started mostly in 87..

ok, slight hijack...

Is a 84 351W HO a roller motor or not. I've been told yes and no and I am not sure how to find out w/o pullin' it apart but I want to know before hand if at all possible. It came in a Bronco if that matters.

Thanks....hijack off. :D

no, it's a not a roller motor, but those 351H.O. motors go like hell.. way better than the older early 80's ones, and blow the doors of the later efi ones..

Ok, one more stupid question and I'll shut up... :D

As sad as this is...is my cam a hydraulic lifter setup?

Please let me know even if it comes with flames.

Thanks. Phil
:flipoff2:

Edit:.....upon thinkin' about what I asked...I know feel very stupid...

yeah it's a hydro lifter motor.. Solid lifters haven't been used for decades for the most part in V-8's. I think the last ford motor to use them was the 2.8 V-6, which died in 86' or so..
