Chris where are you buying your tubing at in phoenix ? I was down a week ago and bought some at southwest steel up on deer valley and 22nd ave price seemed good compared to what I 'm paying here in southwest colorado. 1 3/4 .120 was $1.12 a foot in phoenix and here its $2.00 for .095. The savings more then payed for my fuel.

what type of bender? i use a hydrolic muffer bender and turn up the pressure on the hydrolics and it bends nice. it is not as clean as the jd2 but 100x faster. it makes the inside a smaller diamiter on the radius. it doesn't weaken it but the jd2 looks more like a mandril bend. u might have odd sized pipe like 1 7/8. i got a stack of this and screwed up the first stick and broke my bender. then i mesured and was a little mad at the tube company. abc tube in sacramento. don't buy from them. if u bought the harbor freight bender it won't work. it is made 4 solid stock

If it is kinking you can try to pack the tube with sand, that should help.
