well I'm not needing anything just I got a friend thats into 4x4s and I'm having a hard time discribing how the knuckel works on a 70. He knows of an International 1 tone with the factory front 70 that he was thinking about geting.

I gust remember ther being some pics on this site some where

Geez.

That's a Tracta joint.

And they call it that because that's the type of joint it is.

good point but it was factory for a 1 tone for example this truck has a 70 up front. Gee this truck needs a lift badly http://community.webshots.com/storage/1/v4/9/80/17/29098017LnMJrzmDGO_ph.jpg

I know, Binder - Tractor... Oh never mind. :D

I've been looking for one of these for my 1970 1300 series to convert it to 4WD. I need an 8 lug one though. I have the big IH rear end with the "modern" 8 on 6.5 pattern not the 6 lug bud pattern. Thats a tough one to find.

I have a 73 Dodge 3/4ton with a D70 front.
However its a common 8 lug pattern.
Does this have the same "Tracta" joint
as pictured in the link?
Annnnnnd....if so everyone in the past said that
these were really weak and would break easily.
They also complained about the tie rod hanging down so low. Buuut...that can be easily put
on top of the springs.

Soooo...lol...do I now have a piece of free gold
or still a hunk of scrap?

thanks

Dodge M37s use Tracta joints. They never break. They have only 1.375" splines and 1.25" shafts so that's what does occaisonally break.

That truck doesn't need a lift, it needs a sawzall. :D

Where is the tie rod on that thing? I don't see it.

Anyone want to donate a set of those tracta joints to me to play with? maybe I can make them fit a rover housing?

The 48-49 Land rovers had similar joints and are highly priced as they are bullet proof..

One advantage is that they are a true cv (constant velocity) joint.

huh.
