I have a scout 800 with 345,SII running gear and 33" Boggers. I have a D60 out of a pickup, and I wanted to know if the 44 rear will be enough. I fully plan to drive it hard and I know the 30 spline 44 is strong. The 60 will cost me 300$ is it worth the $$$ or is the 44 plenty for me....

Anybody run a spool in the rear? Right now I have factory trac-loc and I wonder if the 44 will handle the weekend trips?? The Scout is for 4x4 only never on pavement.

The 44 is enough  untill you get tired of replacing shafts. Go the 60 route :smokin: .

Currentlly have a spool in a rear D44 w/ 33's. Never broke a shaft. But a propane 345 doesn't have gobs of horsepower either.

This is all assuming it's a one-piece 44. You say it's an 800, most of which had the 2-piece 44. In that case I'd say a swap is in order.

Don't bother changing out to that 60 unless it has 35 spline axles. Odds are it doesn't. If you mod it to accept the 35's then it's worth the swap. :)

hay a 44 if its one pice can hold yes a 35 spline 60 is getter but is the loss of ground clearance worth it if its a 30 spilne 60 yor better off with good shafts in the 44 just my 2 cents

They are 30 spline and they are 1 piece. The 60 is out of a 76ish pickup with 5/5.5 lug. Dont know the spline but it has 3.73 with trac-loc.

You got one from a truck with the "heavy half" package. I think they had the weaker spline count but it's still a 60, good find.

Did you even read the post? It says sII running gear.

A SF 60 is bearely better than the 44 in my oppinion. But it'd be real easy to mod up to a 35 spline. Either way it will be a lot wider than the 44 you have now.

$300 for a SF 60 isn't an upgrade for a 44 that you already have...if it was $150 then pick it up...but you still have 30 spline SF shafts, and you already have that with a 44.

Ya, what they say.

Run the SII D44 till it :nuke:'s, then build something bigger.

never popped any rear 44 parts with 33's, rocks and a spool, yet. Will someday.

If you got a killer deal ($300 is not a killer deal) on the SF IH pu 60, and were going to build a wider front, then I'd say yes. Run it till it blows, then order up some 35-spline shafts for it. Till then, run what you brung.
