What type of high amp alternators are any of you 5.0 guys running, and how are they performing as far as amperage and reliabilty?
Ive heard that the Lincoln mark VII that came with the 5.0 HO, also had a high amperage alternator available as an option( I think it was 130 amps).
I need some suggestions and/or personal experiences with high amp alternators, for my 5.0 HO.

By the way, I am currently wired for and running the stock, externaly regulated 89 Lincoln Mark VII alternator.

94-95 GTs have a 130 amp alternator. Pretty easy swap. www.pa-performance.com sells the adapter harness for a pretty decent price.

I just swapped out my stock alternator for a 130A 3G alternator. I just had to cut a notch out of the bracket and it bolted right in. One plug was the same and the other one (the one that has the reputation for catching fire) gets replaced by a single plug and ring terminals for the stud. If I were running a winch on my mustang, I would replace the charge wires with a heavy gauge cable, but I haven't had any problems with frying the stock charge wires so far. I get far more amperage out of it than the stock alternator. No more dim lights when running the A/C.

Try North West Power Product for a good HD, high output Alternator.

I plan on their 200 amp unit almost bolt in, but they have a 190 amp unit that is a bolt up to the POD of the 5.0.

They also have HD Eco-Tech Alternators for Trucks (250 amps @ 2300 rpm), like you would find on an ambulance or emergency vehicle.

Yeah Doc, I got your message, and even went out and took my brand new HP camera out to the rig for some more pics of my slave set up,.... But, my desktop computer is down and Lance hasnt fixed it for me yet(you cant go wrong using the web daddy as your excuse), I went to download my pics and my old steam driven lap top that I am currently using would not except the HP download programming, and I cant send them without editing because the files are too big,. anyway, after a couple of days, I sort of forgot about it, but I left the message on my in box so that I wouldnt, eventually I think I assumed that I had answered it, and just forgot to delete it,..but now Im reminded that thats not the case,...wheeew that was a long sentence without taking a breath.
So thats the story! :D

In any case I havent rolled, or launched myself and my Jeep off of the planet,..."yet". :p

So how much was that Power Master alternator, I used a couple of them in the past on my old 4 banger and had terrible luck with their reliabilty.

Thanks everyone for the responses.
It appears that my Lincoln Mark VII 5.0 HO (my engine donor) was already set up for the higher amp version of the stock alternator, because as the dealer mechanic explained to me today, it has the double fuse linked voltage supply wires.
The links above have some great options for 200 amp 100 at idle version alternators. I think thats the direction I will go

H8, without going out and digging up old reciepts (from a year ago) I think I paid about $160. for it.
Thanks for the heads up about their reliability though.
I havn't tried it out yet...........I'm still working on this clutch issue. :D
I could probably get by without the pics of your setup. Thanks for trying.
My question is with the pushrods, did you have to lengthen the one at the slave?
When you moved your master, what did you do with it's push rod?
