i'm doing a soa on my 84 fj60 and the rear springs have what looks like some kind of spring wrap around it with a rubber cusion. the plan was to weld new perches and use the oem u-bolt plates flipped over from side to side, it seems as if i were to do that than i would need to use the wraps, since the spring plates are quite wider than the springs. can i use a 2 1/2 inch perch with this set up or do i need to get 3 inch perches? any input is always thankful.

I flipped them over ( opposite sides ) and just used them like they were when it was spring under. I just made sure not to tear the rubber spacing crap. It seems to all work ok. I bolted it down tight and it all sucked it together. Tell me if you did something different

2.5" is fine. thats what I always use anyways.
