when I 1st laid eyes on it 2 mondays ago.......it felt like it was restored for me......and it was my fait.
Seller(Steve)is a VERY cool dude, we made a deal that makes us both very happy. Is still at Marv's getting some stuff done, then Steve has some detail work to do......then its heading north prolly next week. Everyone that has seen it says its amazing, including Marv Spector....he said its the best he has ever seen. Steve bought the vent rubber(must have been from Rick D at one time) from Paul Decker........for in INSANE amount of money.......this was of course befroe TLC was making repo's.....
so what can I say.....
Connie, knew it was mine when she 1st saw it.......and so did I.
and Georg.........ya you can add me to the registry(Steve sent me your email ;) so I thought I'd let you know myself :flipoff2:
I have a feeling this 45 is gonna be even better than I expect.....Steve is a perfectionest, ya should hear some of the details and what he has done.....
NEVER EVER thought I would buy somethinig like this.....let alone a rig that I have never seen(but have 100 pics of) But my 45 would never be what this is and for what I paid I could not reproduce it.
some will call me stupid.........like I give a damn :D

rustycruiser 05-03-2004, 12:17 PM I hate you, yet I wanna be you!

orangefj45 05-03-2004, 01:37 PM steve e-mailed me today in the morning, stating that he was selling it. glad you got it! when are you picking it up? need a place to crash? we always have a place for fellow cruiserheads to crash (spare guest room).
and yes, i am starting a registry, so e-mail me. but i don't wanna hijack this bitchin thread so i'll start a new one. :D
Deep South Cruisers 05-03-2004, 01:43 PM More Pics!
Sloan 05-03-2004, 01:47 PM Is that the truck that has the billet steering column? I think it was at the TLCA anniversary show a few years back?
Landpimp 05-03-2004, 02:27 PM nope, it was in CA for sale un-restored, I actaully treid to buy it a few years ago but the seller would never call me back. It went from the way it was to Steve who restored it then, so nope not the same one. the one you saw in on TLC's site, it sold for something like 70K!! (but it had mods done)
this is it before, solid expect Steve says it had a hole in the drivers floor the cut out and put new metal in.

Deep South Cruisers 05-03-2004, 02:30 PM hey!
I remember that one, WOW eggcellent restoration work.
Predictable
Pimp soldiers on in his quest to own every Cruiser on the planet. I have one crummy 45lv that nearly runs, and he burns past me on the outside with 2 badass 45lv's!!!
Congrats Fawker :flipoff2:
Give me your hubcaps and your dome light, and I'll lay off:)
tornadoalleycruiser 05-03-2004, 02:45 PM Congrats PImp! Just ignore Chef.. He doesn't need any more hubcaps.. Send those to me!.. I'll make sure Chef can see em every once in a while!
Glad to see you scored an awesome rig! That rocks it went to a good home! Now post up more baby pics!
Radd Cruisers 05-03-2004, 02:56 PM Hey Pimp, I like those colours on that rig it looks great. And yes you are right about buying one restored too that level, its called hours and hours of labour.
Everyone is jumping for your LWB45 now, any plans on selling as the vultures circle overhead.
I think a LWB FJ45 would be pretty trick with a 1HZ(Damn Diesel Heads)H55 tranny, turbo and two E-lockers out of a 80 series.
Enjoy the new toy.........
Goebeler 05-03-2004, 03:06 PM I was watching that auction and told my wife I was going to have to get a hold of the guy when it ended cause it would solve my immediate problem of being all laid up with my wagon in far too many pieces. She thought I was nuts but what the hell.
John, you did the right thing by grabbing that one. If you are dissapointed in any way, let me know cause I would take it off your hands. My guess is that it is truely a nice restoration and you will be proud to own such a piece of history. AS you know, I am all up for collections of cruisers, so keep up the good work and please shoot me a note when you decide what you might get rid of. I am impulsive so let me know!

dog walker 05-03-2004, 03:09 PM Wow!!! Nice rig! I can't beleive how nice that wagon is! Great catch :bounce2:

call me about the trans for the "other wagon".800-991-0117
Landpimp 05-03-2004, 03:25 PM yep, NOWAY I would have even spent the time, effort and money on restoring one. Heres the deal, my back/neck is messed up and will be getting better, someday I will not be able to drive my leaf sprung Cruisers...........so I figured heck.......I might as well enjoy when I can......you only live once!
and yes the ole 45 waggy will "prolly" be sold this year, to be honest by best friend has 1st shot at it, then Brett(been buggin me for a year to find him one), the Deep South......after that its up for grabs.
also the 65 f40 will go away(prolly)
and the mustard 82 might be going(I have a plan)

The LC forum here on
:skull: is were the 45LV action is. It just doesn't exist anywhere else currently. We're the only ones talking about them. I love PBB and I LOVE my 45LV.
Landpimp- I'm really stoked for you. IMO you now own the nicest Cruiser ever.
Toploader 05-03-2004, 05:17 PM Sweet! Congrates pimp...nice score. Damn that is one nice 45, enjoy.
orangefj45 05-03-2004, 05:20 PM the 45 run is labor day weekend, that's the 1st weekend in september. BRING IT!
Landpimp 05-03-2004, 05:44 PM some more pics. Steve had Marv put on a NEW OEM 1 barrel carb and some other stuff. then Steve is taking care of some interior stuff, visors, dome light and misc. also comes with touch up paint.
any idea's for seat(front only) belts? (I know it doesnt need them but) Steve was thinking fj55 belts? I would like him to install them so I don't bugger it up.

All I can say is amazing! That thing is by far the nicest I have ever seen!
Congrads, it couldn't have gone to a better home. Now get busy on that car port!
Goebs
Landpimp 05-03-2004, 05:57 PM and thats the same thing Marv Spector said :)
I have a feeling Steve could become a rear force in the Cruiser resto business, watch for the 55s he has coming up and also a fj45 left hand drive troopy, maybe another 45LV and maybe a mustard 82 fj40. You should hear him talk....he is really into it and prides himself on his work. I bet it looks better then even the pics show!
I think both Steve and I agree its going to the right home :)

Rat70FJ 05-03-2004, 06:01 PM Gawd, I doubt if that thing looked that good brand new! That is a ridiculously clean 45! Are you going to trailer it home or drive it? I think I'll go outside and kick my 40! Georg knows how ugly it is.
Kent
Landpimp 05-03-2004, 06:02 PM If anyone sees any details that need to be done to the 45 let me know, Steve will take care of it before it leaves.
oh it still has a generator not an alt!
I am torn as to weather to have the stock Toyota Land Cruiser decall put on the back. What do ya all think?
http://pic10.picturetrail.com/VOL326/691553/2874015/35582221.jpg
it is correct for the year and I have a repo of it from Rick D. but am not sure, might looked better with the latter emblem(metal) and I think I know of 2 of em.
if you notice he already intalled a OEM fj40 antenna but no radio, so I will make up something nice and hiddin for it, prolly the glove box with a wired remote and 2 speakers under the seat or something.......don't think I'll be cutting up the doors to fit em :shaking:
eshelbyk 05-03-2004, 06:14 PM Rear seat ashtray is :smokin:
I vote keep the sticker off until you are 100% sure. And if you're going to keep it '64, keep it '64 (no emblem). If you're doing it for you, do what you think works best.
WTF is with the non-TEQ battery?! :flipoff2:
Congrats again!
Landpimp 05-03-2004, 06:39 PM I kinda am thinking the same right now. even the orignal decalls were hand made, they cut out the letters and pasted them over the white backgound........really odd but stock(I have literature that shows it) When my mustard/white was painted many moons ago they painted around the decal!
according to my info its a 4/64 production(but sold in 65) and the 5th oldest 45 in the US, the next frame # is in VA someplace.
http://pic10.picturetrail.com/VOL326/691553/4233613/52783588.jpg
Yes the battery is not OME;) but I have a new Panisonic(OEM) from a new Cruiser ;) also the radiator cap is a Stant and the gas cap has been painted but I have both new OEM in the shed :D

GreenPig 05-03-2004, 08:39 PM Fawking NICE, John! I would love to have one of Stephen's restos... Someday.
dogboy 05-04-2004, 04:56 PM cruiserholic (n): an accute condition marked by an overt and obsessive need to surround oneself with all things pertaining to, by, or for Toyota LandCruisers. Chronic symptoms may include excessive knowledge of technical data, loss of work productivity, relationship issues, financial distress, denial, and impulsive hoarding of vehicles.
Prognosis for advanced cases is dismal at best as symptoms seem to magnify with repeat exposure to stimuli and patients diagnosed as such are frequently intractable.

orangefj45 05-04-2004, 05:38 PM fawk john! that rig is too beautiful. you better stop by with it on the way up north.
is that the correct cowl vent?
Cruiser Ken 05-04-2004, 05:49 PM  :smokin:
I think that about covers it.
Landpimp 05-04-2004, 06:07 PM its being trucked up to me, but we will drive it down to you latter :)
I asked Marv today if it needed anything, he said "if your REALLY anal, you might want to replace $5 worth of non stock bolts" ummmmm OK I can live with that :p
also has a brand new Aisin 1 barrel on it ;)
cowl vent, yeah I think its correct, looks the same as my other one. are yours different?
Its funny so many Cruisers are sold on Ebay and they never turn up again.......you will be seeing plenty of this one :D
No shit, I knew/felt it would be mine the day you(I think) posted it up.......I honestly feel like Steve restored it with me in mind. I drug Connie out of bed at 5:30am(2 mondays ago) to show her.......we just stared at it. Never thought I would buy a Cruiser sight unseen let alone a restored one, heck I have bought all mine local and for the most part stock and un-restored, there is NO way I could have done what Steve did.........no fawkin way.
I might have it by next weekend, I hope so as starting the week after I have to actaully work hard for for 3 weeks.......

Get decent tall & narrow tires, and black shox....;))
Did you know the stock tire of days long gone, the Dunlop Roadtrak Major 7.50x16, is still being made in Japan?
7.00x16 is still an option with Toyota Gibraltar, 7.50x16 apparently Japan-only (but haven't searched for it in Europe).
http://www.toyota-gib.com/images03/accessories2003/dunlop_roadtrak.jpg
(only accessible through their French site, just to make life simple....;))
http://www.toyota-gib.com/french/vehicles/accessories/tyres_accessories/contents.htm
Only dispensation for the Dunlop could be a Michelin XZL or XZY....;))
Landpimp 05-05-2004, 07:06 PM Just got off the phone with Steve....MAN is he a perfectionest! Marv mentioned the non OEM bolts to him.....he bought bags of bolts and is replacing them. Tons of other little items that I would never had noticed untill I got it(and maybe not even then), he is making a new rubber piece for the rear latch, even bought a OEM brake pedal return spring, picked up all the firewall gromets, removing a non stock cable that run to nowhere, just little stuff.....but man what a cool dude. He is gonna have it apaised for me in CA by the guy TLC uses, so I can insure it before it heads up. Said he drove it back from Marv's today and it runs and drives KILLER. He was missing one rear seat latch(the female part on the seat) Marv is picking him up one in AUS(which arrording to Marv was the 2nd largest market for the 45V, Suadi Arabia is 1, US is 3rd) and will send it to me. He said he wants me to get it in the best condition that he can possible make it. MArv's guys redid some of the brake work that Steves guy did, bleed em all, adjusted ect. Basicly he asked Marv......what else can I do to make it perfect?......and he is doing it, all for the price we agreed on(which I wont share yet)
and Willem, yes I will paint the shocks black ;) maybe even swap to a set of 33x9.5's I have......tall and skinny
God I am excited! :)
Rev. Parsley 05-05-2004, 07:47 PM Marv is picking him up one in AUS(which arrording to Marv was the 2nd largest market for the 45V, Suadi Arabia is 1, US is 3rd)
This is interesting. I thought that they only went to the US and to Africa. I gotta start looking for parts in other markets ;).
Landpimp 05-06-2004, 05:47 AM I was kinda suprised as well, I guess the seat for my 45 came from AUS, but I have never heard of a 45V in AUS.........but that meens nothing. I almost would have said that the US got the most 45's.
I know they went to some asian countries.
This is interesting. I thought that they only went to the US and to Africa. I gotta start looking for parts in other markets ;).
YoungDogs 05-06-2004, 10:07 AM Wow!
That is the cleanest, prettiest cruiser I have ever seen pictures of.
Congrats!
just to continue being anal, and since you asked: am I missing something or are the visors missing?
65-fj45 05-06-2004, 10:33 AM In one of John's posts above, it says that the visors need to be put in.
Landpimp 05-06-2004, 10:33 AM you are correct, they are being recovered and the rod painted. Connie actaully cought that one last week........she is starting worry me ;)
also all door plug are included, he bought a new fj55 dome light and is installing it.
just to continue being anal, and since you asked: am I missing something or are the visors missing?
Owyhee Jackass 05-11-2004, 11:15 AM What did you decide on the seat belts?
My opinion is none, or some retractable shoulder belts. I have the OEM lap/non-retractable shoulder belt in my 55. I only use the lap belt. I'd rather have retractable shoulder belts. I know they aren't stock but, if you're going to be out on the highway in it...
Just curious, from the looks of it, I'd trust this guy to install a nice set of belts and make it look good.

Landpimp 05-11-2004, 01:35 PM we decided to pass on the seat belts, Steve was having a hard time(metaly) drilling holes and cutting the carpet, so we baged it, I will work on something, no need to rush into it, I want to check out some options to see what will look the best. But I do think I will add something, prolly just lap belts for the front seat. But if I take it to CA I will want something......maybe a ratchet strap ;)
