Has anyone been successful with putting flatop knuckles and histeer on their early bronco? Is there a problem with the trac bar? What other problems are there and what other options for moving the tie rod higher?
Thanks
Kevin

As far as I know.... There is not enough meat on the bronco knuckles to machine and tap the tops. I would get a chevy or dodge knuckle and then you will be home free.
Go to www.bcbroncos.com
They hooked me up w/ the bushings for the highsteer. Then all you have to do is tap them out. Make sure you get all three if you have the y steering!

The GM flat-top knuckles will bolt up to the EB D44. Same balljoints, and the camber ends up unchanged. I'm running these knuckles (w/ discs) on mine.
Since mine's in a Jeep, I couldn't say if there'll be tie rod or drag link interference with your track bar or coils...
Chris (you could convert to leafs ;))
Just mock up some arms with a couple pieces of wood. Then see if it'll work. Your problem area are the pan bar. I know it wouln't work with the 78 & 79 Ford style Dana 44, however it should work (fit) if your bar has a seperate bracket that is welded on the housing.
It should also clear the C-clamps that hold the axle on. Just do it! At worst you'll be out time and the money for the knuckles and wood.

I would just use broom sticks to begin with! Save time and money and it's cheaper. Stop by walmart.. ahh I need a new tie rod errr. broom handle! :D

The highsteer with flat top knuckles is too high for the bronco unless you significantly lower your bump stops (2.5-3 in) the tie rod will hit the frame on compression/articulation. You could put the tie rods under the arms on flat top knuckles but this only puts them about 3/8 higher than if you just ream the stock bronco knuckles to put the tie rods on top of them. This is the conversion that BC broncos sells the bushings for. depending on the size of the tie rod you may have some clearance issues with the track bar bolt, but a grinder can usually solve these problems
