Okay I am trying to fit a York air system on my 40. Unfortunately I have a dual battery tray that makes it really hard to put it on the passenger side. What I was wondering is could I cut off the firewall support right there to get an additional 2 or 3" of clearance? That would make it really easy to fit the York because I could then move the battery tray back further. Or should I just relocate the batteries underneath the driver seat???

I'll get pictures of the engine bay Tomorrow...

You can lay Optimas down, no leakage, also no no hydrogen outgassing, so they're safe in the cab

Relocate the batteries. I made a tray about 2 inches deep and about 11"x14" under the drivers seat. I welded it inplace and it holds two optimas. It is a squeeze between the factory '76 seat brackets and the edge of the tranny tunnel, but it works well. Plenty of room under the hood and it makes things easier for the v-8 swap.
