Well alpo seems to know dam near everything on fords so maybee you can help.

I am working on a 79 bronco that someone has swapped a 390 into it. When we first got it it ran like shit so we did the basic tune up, plugs, wire's, cap, rotor...........

Still ran like poo, So we did a points to electronic conversion, still runs bad,
Next was a timeing chain, still ran terible, so we pulled the can shaft, whattya know 4 flat lobes, a bent push rod, and a mushroomed out lifter.
So in went the new cam and lifter's and it runs like a champ now BUT the driver side bank valve train was starting to get NOISEY! so we pulled the cover off and let it idel and we aren't getting ANY oil up there??????? the other bank is, What gives, how do I fix this?

One guy says some of the cams had a groove or a notch to let the oil pass and maybee our new one didn't and it needs it. I don't know to much about how the oiling system works in motors so any help would be great!

Thanks
Mike

oil pump perhaps, or maybe the oil passages through the pushrods are clogged. Or maybe it's cuz you're working on it :flipoff2:

Shot in the dark:

FE's are notorious for having oiling problems - too much oil to the valve train. As a fix, a lot of guys restrict the oil passage under the rocker stand. I'd pull it and check it out - Also, make sure they have the correct bolt in there, one is longer than the rest.

Lot's of guys use Holley jets to restrict it, maybe someone goofed on the install? http://www.network54.com/Forum/message?forumid=74182&messageid=1083128008

you might also have a glogged up rocker shaft it self. you might try pulling the rocker shaft and cranking the engine(pullo the coil wire) and see if any oil at all comes up thru the oil hole in the head. If so the look at disassembleing the rocker shaft and seeing if it is full of sludge. Was this a high mileage motor or 'fresh'? or plainely unkown' .
I'd also look up the people on this forum. they may be able to help as they know far more about the FE than I do. http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=51

thanks for the reply's, We think we found it. The one bolt that the oil travels past wasn't necked down like it was supposed to be and that didn't let the oil flow past it........

Ahh the joys of working on someone else's project
