Chances are it is a bad solenoid. But it could be a bad battery coneection or motor. Does it click when you try to winch?

no clicking or nothing, there is absolutly no response from it at all.
we checked the connections to the bat ,
the same thing happened last winter, and it did the same thing, no responce
then it worked when tried in the spring,
do you guys know if they have a tendency to freeze up at all?

It would have to be -70 degree celcius for one of those to freeze. Did it make any noise like a cracking sound when it quit or it worked the last time you used it and now it isnt working?

well it worked for a bit, then we tried hooking up another way and while reeling out my buddy flipped it quickly so it would reel in and there was a funny sound , ever since it doesn't work.

If the funny sound was a crack then you probably toasted your motor.

Last year I had the motor on my Ramsey 6000 rebuilt and it cost a $100 Canadian.

How old is it? I blew up the motor in my new 8274-50 and it was covered under warranty. It was a mechanical problem though. if you overheated the motor they wont cover it.
