I don't have a dial indicator, so is there any way to check end play of my NP435 without it?
If not, should I just bring it to a local tranny shop and have them check it?

A dial indicator. If you rebuilt trannies for a living you could probably do it by feel.

If you don't have a dial indicator as you said....clamp something on the end, say from a mounting ear...fabbed 90 degree angle or anything solid and check the clearance, end play with a set of feelers gauges. I think it would be easier for me to show you than to try in put this down on a keyboard. Hope this helps....good luck!!

Well I usually start with a finger, if she let's ya get that in there then you know ya at least got a chance. After the finger I give her a second and then try the whole thing. :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
