I checked out the wiring diagram in a haynes manual but my guage isn't working. This is the one i recently modified to fit in a 2 1/16 inch can.

There are two posts on the back of the guage. I am assuming one comes from the middle of the sending unit and the other is either for +12 or ground.

Can someone help me out.

Trying to rule out the fact the guage is shot.

Currently between the sending unit and ground im seeing 31 ohms.

Was the guage originally grounded. My new guage is completely isolated so maybe I have to ground it.

Throwing out ideas if anyone can help.

do i need a ground in there somewhere

thanks

One terminal on the back of the gauge is 12 volts positive. The other terminal goes to the sending unit . The other side of the sending unit is grounded. Check to make sure the sending unit is grouded. No ground is required at the gauge unless it is lighted. An easy way to test the gauge is to ground the wire that goes to the sending unit.

Dan thanks again. Just wanted to add a little clarification. The post that is the on the same side as empty is the 12V and the Full is the sending unit.

Thanks,
