: Electric Lockers-what years/vehicles?
OK, I just spent the last hour searching and I still can't find the info I'm looking for. I am looking for a Toyota electric locker that I can put 5.29 gears in to install in the front of my '85 pickup. My questions are:
What year/vehicle would I look for to find a hy-pinion electric locker that would work on my truck?
What year/vehicle would I look for to find a regular(not hy-pinion) electric locker?
As far as I can see, you can't get one from the dealer w/5.29 gears. Is this correct?
Go ahead and flame away, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that would like to see this info in one place. Thanks in advance.
for the hy-pinion reverse rotation you need to look for any year FZJ-80. for a regular low pinion locker look for a 96 or newer 4 runner or a 97 or newer tacoma.

These guys and allpro both sell the reverse rotation gears needed for the hi-pinion. Non hi-pinion is just standard V6 gears.
There are a couple rears in the for sale section right now going for $500 with wiring harnesses. You'll have to search for that though.:D

BTW, you can use the "rears" up front too, they just won't be HP.

slydog186 01-14-2002, 08:59 AM I am running a brand new Hi=Pinion diff from a '98 FJ80 and 5.29's. In the rear, I am running a brand new V6 4Runner diff w/ e-locker for a 1999 model. I bought them w/ 4.11's from J-marks Toyota, and I got the gears installed by a REALLY good gear guy at MS. Conception Motorsports in Utah.

That's a good question, I've wondered the same thing. I'm running 37's, will the e-locker hold up? What size tires are all of you running with the hy-pinion electric?
joe_out_west 02-27-2002, 11:21 PM Check this out car-part.com, you might be able to get the high pinion there. there sure seems to be a lot of rear diffs for about 400 bucks though.

I'm running 35x12.50 SSR's on my HP E-lockers, and my friend is running 35x15.50 SX's on his. He has a much heavier foot than I do, but neither of us have had any problems with the Elockers.
