I just got done putting a T-18 in my jeep.Take her for a test ride I thought.Go about 8 miles in the woods fawking tire falls off.I guess you should grease the bearings every once in a while. They pretty much disintegrated.Nice walk home.Happened to my friend last year.I ragged the shit out of him.How many of you has this happened to?Lucky thing I was going two mph.

you shouldn't make bearings outta dynamite.
Two quick lessons to be learned here:
1. maintain your vehicle
2. :cow:

hibbing eh? from tower myself..
A good tip is to fill the hubs with mercury lowerunit oil, it tolerates water in it better than anything else.

a bearing failed on my dad's 78 f150 4x4 while bringing a free, old, extremely heavy camper home from seattle about 10 years ago. it shot out the passenger side tire and axle shaft, the tire bounced off the guard rail and landed on the other side of I-5.
my dad's managed to kill 3 9" rears in that truck. most of the time it's hauling wood...if he wasn't planning on junking it(never took care of it so it just rusts away until he uses it once a year) i'd put a 60FF in the rear
