: Throttle Position and O2 sensors
JeepingEaglesChick 05-07-2004, 09:40 AM Hey guys,
I am probably going to be replacing the throttle sensor and the O2 sensor on my buddy's jeep and need to know if anyone has a write-up on how to do these....The 02 sensor should be no problem, but I am not sure where the throttle sensor is.
Thanks,
Reanna
P&T Jeeps 05-07-2004, 10:40 AM WOW, can we hold your dick next time you piss please too?!?
get the new sensor, find the one on the Jeep that looks the same, replace.
hint-hint, you might find it near the throttle body...
EDIT: looks like you might be a chick, if so, sorry on the dick comment...but I guess that means we'll have to wipe your cooter instead. now I feel somewhat bad.
Rastamon 05-07-2004, 10:43 AM for the most part it is pretty straight forward. if anything does not work quite right, your TPS might need to be adjusted. there is a method to do it, but i dont know off hand how to. i know it has been discussed here before though.
good luck

Neither is very difficult but it would help if we new the year and model of the Jeep. I assume by throttle sensor you are referring to the throttle position sensor, TPS. The TPS is on the throtte body.
JeepingEaglesChick 05-07-2004, 11:03 AM Yes, I am a chick...don't worry about the comments..I can handle it ;)
I am trying to save my buddy Wes some money by doing this, the dealer wants to charge him over $500...he has a 97 TJ also, but he is not very mechanically inclined, nor does he have the time to do it.
Kilby 05-07-2004, 11:09 AM You can replace all three of those sensors in less than an hour. TPS is held to the throttle body by 2 bolts, and the O2 sensors simply thread into the downpipe & cat (on TJ's).
Hats off to ya! But what kind of self-respecting Jeep DUDE needs a CHICK to do his work for him?? :flipoff2:

Awesome....thanks man :D

He just bought his Jeep and used to own a 2WD Tacoma  ! Does that explain it?
I told him when I met him that he would soon own a Jeep, especially since his roomate is Gui :flipoff2:
chevy91 05-07-2004, 11:22 AM How much are they hitting him for the 97 TPS?? I have a spare one off a 97 2.5 you all can have for free.. I swapped a 97 2.5 into my 91 YJ and had to swap out the intakes & TB..
If you want it, drop me an e-mail.. Lee@taftnet.com
Firefyter_Emt 05-07-2004, 11:25 AM BTW.. That was really me in the above post.. I am on a work computer, and Mike left himself logged in to the PBB... E-mail addy. is correct though.
JeepingEaglesChick 05-07-2004, 11:39 AM sent you an e-mail :)
geberhard 05-07-2004, 12:42 PM Reanna,
You kick butt! I just touched baase with Wes, and he is extremelyu thankful! We are going to check as far as getting a decent deal on the O2 sensors, and I will check into his TPS. I think we can check as far as opening up his TPS and cleaning up with some throttle cleaner spray.
He run the OBD scanner, and we can try replacing the O2 sensors first. His fuel sending unit is messed up, and it is under warranty (thansk for the tip), so the stealership will take a week to get the part in and replace.
Do you know if the 4 banger TPS will work for his 6 banger TJ?
Gui

I am going to call him tonight...I checked prices on the sensors and the lowest I found so far is 37.00 for the TPS, and $87 for the )2 sensor. The 4 banger TPS will work on his 6 :)

geberhard 05-07-2004, 01:37 PM Hahahah coming from a dude named "Dust Puppy" sounds pretty macho :D Ok, EagleChick is being cool in helping a buddy out, so why the flaming? Actually Reanna is one of the few girls here on the board that kick ass on doing her stuff, and getting down and dirty and getting stuff done on her Jeep and other Jeeps by herslef.
Back to the issue, someone posted an exploded view of a Jeep TPS here before, but I could not find it again to help him out. Anyone with the electronic version of the FSM that could post it up would help.
THX
