id like to put an sm465 in my flatfender; ill be running a tbi 350, and a spicer 18 case. what all will i need to swap in a 465, other than an adapter? who makes adapters for these(besides advance) what clutch components do i need? should i use a 2wd or 4wd trans?

Novak also makes adapters. I don't know about if it's different for the 20 set up, but the dana 300 setup is cheaper with a 2wd 465. This is because it uses the stock output shaft which you shorten just a bit. The 4wd one uses a spud shaft inbetween the tranny and t-case. If it's similar with the 300, you have to use the 35 spline 2wd ones or the 10 spline 4wd ones only. They don't make an adaptor for the 32 spline one. I had a 4wd 465 to 20 which I recently sold. It worked great. It is an Advance Adapter setup. Now I have a 2wd 465 to 300 adapter with an Atlas (300 bolt pattern). That's all I know.

u say using the 2wd 465 on a d300 is easy- just shorten the shaft and use a new input gear? who does the kit this way?.. I know novak doesnt, but is that what's entailed in the advance kit?... reason being, im using a 2wd 465 to go into my d300 and I am currently planning on the novak kit- new mainshaft all together, but if the advance kit just uses the old one, and WITHOUT a spud shaft, then I like that option too.

Novak has a new kit on the market for the sm465 to d-18. The best part: is the adapter plate is only 1" thick! tranny/adapter
combo is only 13" long..... New trans mainshaft in the kit. Cost's
around 475. but it's short. just what is needed in a flatty/short
wheelbase rig.

I'm not totally sure cuz I ordered the Atlas with a 35 spline input so I don't know about the whole 300 kit. I know that 20's use a bull gear and 300's have a female coupler but I'm not sure how the kits differ for them. My kit was from AA. I really suggest calling AA or Parts Mike. Mike will give you the real low down on what you need.
