Ok fellas I have a buddy doing a 302 swap. He wants to run a 5spd behind it with a low first gear. He is also doing a d44 and 9 inch swap to. What tranny should he use and t-case?

A ZF 5 speed has an integral bell housing with about 5:1 low, and if its from a 4wd 5.0 truck it will have a NP205, good stout case.

what year truck? we need more info??

The only 5 speed worth your time is a
ZF 5 speed, first is about a 5.79, you need one from behind a 351W. The 5 speeds behind the 302 and 300 are junk. T-case, depends total on what it's going in, what kinda low range he wants, and how strong of a case it needs..

well all of it will be going into a 1992 ranger ex-cab the axles have 488's and detriots he also will be running 38's. the motor is a 88 5.ol ho. It is going to be driven on the street daily and used as a weekend toy. So a low first would be great. what year tranny on the zf and what truck is it outta. Also what case should he use?

run the zf into a 203-205 doubler set up and twin stick it.

i have an ext cab ranger too..and wish i had done that the first time. i hope to have it doubled and twinned by fall.

jrod has it, but look in the F-250/F-350s, ZFs didn't come in halftons..

BW cases aren't bad, as long as the pump hasn't failed. 2.72 LO in a BW1345, and 2.69 LO in BW1356. bolt up.

NP205s are great, but take some work to put in, and only 2.0 LO. It all depends on what you are doing.
