Hey Guys_____ Just checking BEFORE I go on a shopping spree (in bone yard). This is my understanding the 85—88 22RE are top shift t-cases (gear driven) also the 83s
The 84—88 22R the shifters are mounted on the tail housing of Trans (forward shifters)
Now the 85 –has a W-56 5sp. Trans
The 84 carb. Has a G-52 Trans (5sp)
So am I misstating any stats so far?
If I’m missing any years with the W-56 or G-52 trans or any years with the top shift (gear driven) t-case. PLEASE fill me in ,this is for a duel t-case setup, Iwant to use 2 top shift (gear driven) t-cases. (at least one 228…)
Also for the second part of my upgrade is.I want to go to 456 gears, with 31s for various reasons. And I understand that there are years of V6s with stock 456 rears that come with stock 31s??? So I’m interested in the years so I can look for them (in bone yards)And am I correct in assuming that 2 rear axels off of V6 Yotas ,one in rear and one in front would do the trick. And how difficult of a mod would that be??? And am I correct in assuming that a rear put in the front would weaken the strength of axel, due to the gears being reversed? Any other options are welcomed.Sorry my rig is an 85 runner____ Anyways _____ THANKS BAYRUNNER

yup, seems right from what i see. i know that at least 79 also had a top shifted case, but you'd need to grind the inner splines(where the shaft necks down on newer cases) so it'll fit a g or w tranny

Hey Guys____ I”ve been researching this duel setup thing and I came across some threads, don’t know how to link or reference threads from other parts of this forum, but I’m trying to figure that out, anyway some guys from (down under)are saying that there having problems breaking shafts with (toy t-case duel setups, they seem not to be holding up) I mean A LOT of problems, just wondering if any of you guys are experiencing similar problems????Anyway ______ THANKS BAYRUNNER
