Hey everyone, my freind Kevin and I will be moving out to San Diego this summer and we are taking a cross country trip. Anyway, we plan to enter CA via the Rubicon trail. the difference is we will be running it from Lake Tahoe to Georgetown. We are looking for a guide to hit the trail with us as neither of us has been on the con before. I have a highly modded YJ on 35s and he has a highly modded XJ on 35s.

We will be hitting the Rubicon on June 30th if all goes to plan. we are hoping to make the con in two days. So start the 30th, camp halfway along the trail, and finish it in georgetown on the 1st. We plan to sleep in gerogetown that night before driving down to SD, so if we need to take a little longer we can.

anyone interested or can anyone at least offer some advice?

TIA

EDIT: You had better make sure you get through quickly because that next weekend is 4th of July Weekend. It's the most busy weekend on the Con.

No need to go through to georgetown unless you want to for some reason. You can come out on hwy 50 above placerville. Have fun, you will love it.

Go out throgh Ice house rd to 50. Georgetown is full of thieves. You can't leave anything in your rig. Have fun

I have a suggestion. Try GPS. Does anyone know if GPS signal is strong enough through out the trail?

If it does, you could be nearly blind and get through. I agree with the above posts...don't go to Georgetown after coming out at loon lake or just past Wentworth Springs. Head back out to Highway 50 on Ice house road. You'll save a ton of time and avoid some dusty flat trail that isn't that great. But, if you want to cover the same ground as the original treker's did, then go for it. PM me if you have any question about the route. You can even call me...but PM me first.

The trail does have many off shoots along the way and you likely will get lost if you have know knowledge of the trail.

Either way, you'll love the trail and should have a great time....just don't break!!
