I tried using QuikSteel and its too hard and brittle to deal with the pounding the gastank makes. I got a hole that the factory bracket made in my plastic gastank on my TJ. There's some black stuff that smears on and sticks to the plastic really well. It dries hard but not brittle like Quiksteel or JB weld. Anybody know the name of this stuff or something similiar The leak persists and I want to avoid buying a new tank. The hole is close to the top not touching any metal anymore so it just needs to be able to handle the vibs from the skid getting hit and the gas sloshing offroad

I had good luck with the plastic repair crap made by the same company as quik steel. They sell it at Home despot right next to the qs.

Best way to patch it is clean the arear around the hole. Mix up some permatex cold weld epoxy and get a self tapping screw coarse thread that is bigger (only by a bit) than the hole in the tank. Get a piece of plastic that is 1” square (or rubber, depending) and poke a hole through the middle of it and thread the screw through the hole. Put the cold weld (some of it) into the hole on the tank and around the surface around the hole. Put more cold weld all over the threads on the screw and the side of the 1” square of plastic that will press against the tank. Now screw the screw into the hole until it pulls the head and plastic square up snugly onto the hole. Press the square around the hole so it will seat properly and let the whole thing cure for an hour or two. No more leak.

Would fusion do the trick? Don't know if it works but I wouldn't see why. I fusion black plastic pipes sometimes (I'm a pipe fitter)

With a soldering iron I would fusion the hole together if its small or incorporate some strips of Carlon pipe in the fusion pool and patch the hole.

Got some stuff called PC-11 it seems to be a lot better than the stuff I was using. If I have any more problems I'll pull the tank and have it Thermal Welded at a local bike shop or give it a whirl myself with the tool from Harbor Freight for like $30
thanks for your input
