I know we have been over and over and over this topic. I tried a search and it just came up with cannot find server every time. I also checked out the bible and it is "missing" some useful info.

here are some questions who's answers should be in the bible.
what year Dana 60's are to be avoided (why and how do you tell)
what year Dana 60's are the best (why, and how do you tell)
what about Dodge Dana 60's (i saw no info on them in the bible)
any other useful information

I know there are more questions than this but i can't think of them right now.

maybe we could add this info to the bible so that people don't keep asking the same thing over and over and over again.

can some one post a pic of the king pin style axel vs. ball joint. I found the old thread about it (after looking through 20 pages of threads) and the pic doesn't come up and the link doesn't show a good pic any more

thanks

Thanks for responding guys. I basically found (after reading 20 pages of threads) that chevys front d60's are the way to go for a passanger side 3rd, and that some pre 80's D60's were really weak.

alaskin, how many spline is your d60?

is this it or does anyone else have useful information to share?

Just to add additional info...

1ton Dodge 94 and newer have drivers side diffs plus central axle disconnect (vacuum shit) and 30 spline inners(3000lbs less torque rating than 35 spliners) and wheel bearings are pressed and not serviceable. Not the most desirable axle!

Mine is from a 92 Dodge 1ton and it has passenger side diff. Kingpin design with locking hubs and 35 spline inners. WMS to WMS measures 67.5"

The front is 35 splines inner, and the stubs are 30 splined.
