: 99 PSD Speedo driving me nuts!

My early 99 PSD's speedo is driving me crazy. It bounces around for awhile and then it quits for awhile. It quit for 300 miles one time, but it does not totally die, it flickers occasionally. Sometimes it just bounces around, and sometimes it works perfectly. It usually works better on long trips then commuting or running errands.

The things I did:

1. Replaced rear diff sender ( no help)

2. Drained Diff, cleaned tone ring and inside of diff ( no help)

3. Cleaned chassis wiring harness connectors and put in dielectric grease (worked for 100 miles, then back to messed up)

4. Cleaned ABS module wiring harness, added dielectric grease (worked for 50 miles, then back to messed up)

While the speedo does not work, the cruise contril does not work, but no codes are flashed and the ABS light does not come on.

I am so frusterated at it I am willing to take it to the dealer, but then I think about it and have a free time to do it, it fixes itself.

Any ideas?

I have tried the the desel stop, no one has come up with my promlem. The chassis connectors were an idea from there, and i have already replaced te sensor.

I was hoping on the vast knowledge of the PBB to help me where TDS has stopped...

I hit a deer while traveling 65 MPH in my truck, and the speedo has been fine since. I think one of the modules is going down (ABS?), but I dont want to start hapharzardly replacing them.

you mentioned that you replaced the sensor in the rear diff housing.. there should also be a sensor on the tailshaft on the transmission... the one on the diff housing is usually a abs sensor.. vss (vehicle speed sensor) is usally on the tail shaft of the tranny
