Azrckcrawler 01-14-2002, 03:40 PM I led a run for the other club I am in, the AZ Rough Riders. Pulled into the meeting spot, Holy Crap! You'd think it was a Jeep convention. We had 23 vehicles on the run.
There were more parked off camera.

Dude, you're killing me! Go to work, lay around and watch football, do something besides going fourwheelin' everyday! :smokin:
Nice pics. Your Zuk looks tiny in the first picture with all of those Jeeps. ;)
scwafish 01-14-2002, 07:31 PM Well you've done it...crossed the line in the sand...dont say we didnt warn you. Better start prepping the wife with phrases like..."would you be really bummed if say like 5 guys or so slept in the front yard?"

Who's your daddy? :D We are going to revisit Highway to Hell again this weekend, going to unstack some of the falls. the next weekend is Anaconda. In February we'll be opening a new trail and running Armageddon and a few other yet to be decided extreme trails (insert evil laugh here)
Must  now..............
fatkid 01-14-2002, 11:26 PM You should get your club to make a run to the Hammers, I think you would get a real kick out what Johnson Valley with do to your rigs.:)

well, that trail we did a couple of weeks ago (Upper FireBird) was said to be as bad as any of the Hammer trails..only it's shorter.....then just over the hill is the "worst trail on earth"....said the ARCA guys that ran it....lol
so bring your rigs over here, if you want to try something Hard Core!
tell em Chris....
better yet...show em with all your cool pix....

I am planning a couple out of state trips this year, tha Hammers is one but not likely until fall, saving up for Moab right now. I also want to hit New Mexico again.
okcrawler 01-15-2002, 06:19 AM If you get to run all winter, when do you find time to work on your rigs???
Have you ever considered doing a Zuki run, maybe during the winter? How far is Phoenix from Oklahoma...... Ouch, I just checked. 18 hours. Hummm got any good (x-treme) trails on the north eastern side of AZ?
0ILBURNER 01-15-2002, 07:41 AM Hey Chris, It's probably just the picture, but your rig looks as though the front end is sitting a little low in the front. Are your Wranglers starting to sag?
Man, it would be a B*tch if you had to put off 'wheelin to work on your rig!:flipoff2:

Parked on a hill, I also just put some new springs in the back to level it out, back was sagging about 2 inches.

I work on mine during the summer, just throw some butter on and go slow roast out in the garage :D The ASA hosts an event in Las Cruces every year, but hardly anyone goes. If there were interest I'd could arange tour guides for some of AZ's finest trails. This is the perfect place to do it, one day you could hit all the trails at Table Mesa, then pick up camp and head out to the Florence area and hit those trails.
okcrawler 01-15-2002, 09:57 AM Oh but it's a dry heat......
Well, we may have to work that direction some time. Unfortanatly we have to drive thru NM, and it would be hard to pass up Farmington. Our group is planning on doing some traveling this year (starting with Moab in May), so you never know, maybe we can make it out that way.
Of course it would probably be summer time. Then I'd have to put my doors on and crank the AC..... (my guys just love it when I do that....)

As bad as any of the Hammers, there are parts of the Hammers that I don't even want to try. Not to mention there's a few new sections of trail that gave some of the badest buggies I've seen a real run. And you hit on the nail on the head, there are tough sections on any trail but imagine that rough section for miles and then imagine that times the number of trails there are at Johnson Valley. Imagine the Little sluice for a mile, not a couple hundred yards.:)

It's all good. I am sure cruising thru the rocks in JV with your trusty :bender: at your side is just as fun as crawling Upper Firebird. Either one beats sitting on the couch.
Root Moose 01-17-2002, 11:15 AM Hey Chris, what do you think the problem with the Warn hub fuses is? Warn use too large a design factor to stay away from breaking axle parts?
Seems lots of people are complaining about these things being way too soft. I was thinking about getting some for my Scout axles but now...

I never used them but that would be my guess. The guy who was breaking them sells them, but not to anyone in our club....
okcrawler 01-17-2002, 12:25 PM The problem with hub fuses is they are on the wrong side of the joint! The stress on the axle joint is most severe when the wheel is turned. If you design the fuse to give just before the joint in that condition, it is way to soft for straight line loads.
It's a nice idea, just in the wrong spot....
NothernAZxj 01-17-2002, 04:24 PM This crazy guy from Flagstaff even made it up the waterfall .......AAAAHHHH....So what do you meacrazy guy......man I did feel a little out of place when I showed up with the only grocery getter......So Whats next....like around the 27th?

How about Farmington NM......some great trails there!
I was in Phoenix last summer with my Sami, I did not know that there where that many trails. I sold my old blue Sami to a guy in Phoenix--might see it around some day--Blue sami TTfront bumper with winch,33"bfg,16v,swift seats,ML front and back. Have you seen it?

I wouldn't be wheeling a unibody vehicle thru that stuff, but that's just me. I am running Anaconda on the 26th, most likey be fixing stuff on the 27th :D BTW about half the Jeeps in the club are grocery getters., which is why a lot of people weren't interested in climbing the waterfalls. That run worked out pretty good, there was enough easy and hard stuff to please almost anyone.

Ive done a harder stuff in the XJ.......but I dont think Im ready for Anaconda (4.95+) Ifeel I need wider tires for that one or I would have no body left!

Farmington is on my wish list. Every time we go to Moab, we talk about stopping at Farmington on the way back. Unfortunately, after a week at Moab we are all exhausted and our trucks are in bad need of R&R (rest and repair).. :D
If you know of any events going on lest us know. It's about 12 hours drive, can be done in a day. All I need is a good excuse!
Bill4rest 01-18-2002, 06:46 AM hey Chris where is that trail and what is it called????

We named the downstream portion the Lost World. It's located NE of Lake Pleasant, roughly 19 miles from the pavement. What I am really exicted about is running upstream portion, but that will require an overnighter. It's roughly 2.9 miles of raw trail. We walked about a quarter mile up it, counted 8 waterfalls. We named the upstream portion "Unforgiven" because of what the first 1/4 mile did to my sheet metal, Jims rear differential and Eriks brake line :D
Here's some pics I took past where we drove.
