I'm installing my new WranglerNW alt and I want to make sure that I do this
correctly. If this seems elementry to you, I can understand, please walk me
through this.

My old alternator had 3 wires. 2 in a a plastic crimp and 1 fat wire with a fish
eye that I assume is the + cable.

My new alternator has a crimp of 3 wires, 1 bolt that I assume receives the
fat wire, and one other bolt marked "ADD NEG. CABLE (same gauge as
POS) DIRECT to NEG POST ON VEHICLE BAT."

I figure one bolt connects to the fat wire of the original alternator and one
bolt gets a new wire to the negative side of the batt.

Though now I have 2 wires of my old alternator harness and 3 wires on the
new alternator. The wires are Red, Pink, and Black. The red goes "to the main
battey post on the isolator or on the main battery." Which is it? Is that just
the + side of my batt? The Pink wire is the ignition wire. The brown wire goes
to "the charge light circuit for the chargine system. Key on and engine off.
This wire wants to see about 3 or less volts when the charge light is on."
What charge light? I don't think I have a charge light. Is that one of the lights
on my dash?

If you could confirm my assumptions and direct me as how to handle the other
wires, it would be appreciated. I don't have pictures, but I think I explained it
fairly clearly. Thanks

EDIT: wow. I just read the directions again and found a note that says use
the pink wire or the brown wire, but not both. I guess I'll just attach the pink
wire to the ignition side of my fuse block. If you could still confirm what I've
said about the other wires, it would be appreciated. I still have to find out
what the two existing wires do.

It also says on the bolt for the the + on the new alt that I must use 2 GA wire. How
big is the existing wire? Does anyone have a schematic for the other two existing
wires? Mine doesn't have color/stripe association.

i think the stock wire is like 8 or 10 ga wire.

I think the stock white/blue wire is 10ga. Run 2ga like the instructions say. 2ga is big, like a battery cable big.

Okay. I'll replace that and also get another cable to the (-). Should I put the new 2
GA to the starter as it is now, or to the (+) of the batt? Does everything else sound
right concerning the other wires?
