: The Rockslut on dubs!
The Rockslut 05-18-2004, 11:37 AM Well, after many, many months of delays my rig is back on its feet.
Was a 100" wheelbase YJ with 60/70 combo, 40" TSL's and hydro assist. Outside of tire width was 87" front.
Well now it has a 3.5" longer wheelbase, 3" lower and 5" narrower with 18" of ground clearance at the diff. Full hydro with double ended ram.
39.5" IROK's on recentered mog 20" beadlocks.
The Rockslut 05-18-2004, 11:37 AM Front suspension is not done (Air shocks and track bar) but will be finished soon.
The Rockslut 05-18-2004, 11:38 AM Still have not removed the 2" body lift.
Close ups of the suspension and actual wheelin pics hopefully in the next few weeks.
Chrisjeep7 05-18-2004, 11:40 AM looks killer, now you just need a cage.
was wondering what you had been up to for so long...
Imkunfused 05-18-2004, 11:41 AM damn matt.. looks good..
B.A.R.K 05-18-2004, 11:42 AM Dam, Havent seen that thing in a while.
Im diggin the DUBS!!!
Cant wait for the action shots.
The Rockslut 05-18-2004, 11:46 AM Between the sheriff academy and a new baby the YJ was on hold for a while. I am back and its time to wheel. Was having some major withdrawls for a while.
Cage has been on the list for a long time. Then I pulled the axles out and the Jeep sat in a garage for over a year. Now that its back I can finish some little stuff and bend up a cage while the steel prices are low  :D
sodaboyYJ 05-18-2004, 12:02 PM I love 20" wheels, they make big tires look smaller. It's more visualy pleasing than 15"ers

I'm just the opposite (not quite). I don't like the 20's, I'm more of a 17" dude.
Anyway, looks good! Can't wait for the action shots!

I'm diggin' the wooden springs up front :flipoff2:
Dust Puppy 05-18-2004, 12:06 PM BIIIINNNGGG BLIIINNGGG!!!!!!! I LIKE IT!!!! How many bolt bead lock is that? heheh 100?
Keith Strong 05-18-2004, 12:16 PM Matt you wanna go in on tube purchase with me? Joel and I are gonna build my cage the week or so after memorial ;) Looks killer man! Scary ass flat tow angle :flipoff2: :p
The Rockslut 05-18-2004, 12:34 PM Yeah I only had to flat tow it 1 mile to my place. The front wooden suspension is a new custom kit from Home Depot. Not much articulation but fully adjustable and cheap.
I am not a big fan of the 20" and would prefer 17's. Oh well, at least I am in fashion for the street crowd :D
They are 48 freakin bolt beadlocks. I still havent tightened all of the bolts completely. Pain in the ASS.
Yeah Keith, I need to get a few sticks. I am only going to be building off of the stock cage due to time reasons.
doctor_G 05-18-2004, 01:11 PM The 60/70 combo just wasn't big enough? :flipoff2:
Looks good man!
desertCJ 05-18-2004, 01:19 PM Lookin good! I'd take the body lift out though.....looks like it could stand to be a little lower.
The Rockslut 05-18-2004, 01:22 PM Lookin good! I'd take the body lift out though.....looks like it could stand to be a little lower.
Yep, the BL has always been on the chopping block. Didnt want it when I had leaf springs but I needed that little extra room. After the BL is gone I will be 34" at the rockers. I will be making new tube fenders and moving the rear flares up 2" also.
Yeah, the 60/70 wasnt big enough. I should have left those things in there and I would have never missed a day of wheelin. This is the last major go around for this rig though. I will tweak the suspension and cut off any sheet metal that gets taco'd. I dont want any other axles. This is plenty big for me.
Keith Strong 05-18-2004, 01:26 PM Yeah Keith, I need to get a few sticks. I am only going to be building off of the stock cage due to time reasons.
I am doing the same but only because of the price of metal reasons ;) You dont know anyone with a lumber rack on their truck do you? I am hoping to buy next week some time but I dont have a way to transport it yet.
The Rockslut 05-18-2004, 01:45 PM Nope, I dont know anyone that can pick it up.
Mcstiff 05-18-2004, 01:53 PM How much clearance is around the drum/portal box? I'm going to have a similar setup an am hoping to be able to run a lot of BS and protect the portal box.

With the 20" wheel?
Joels got his trailer ;)
Keith,
I might need to get some too so let me know
Aggro 05-18-2004, 07:08 PM Dig it yo!
It is too tall though.
moveaside 05-18-2004, 07:21 PM You must have looked bitching ass hell pulling up to Mesa Verde High School on the dubs there Jay Z. You got 99 problems but your Jeep ain't one.
rockmutt 05-18-2004, 09:20 PM how long is your rear d-line, and how steep is it??
The Rockslut 05-19-2004, 12:19 AM Well due to budgetory reasons i had to run a 208 until the atlas fund is available. So the t-case is longer than i had wanted. My rear shaft will be around 13" once I cut 3/4" of the pinion shortening the pinion conversion.
As soon as my digi cam gets back with my wife on Sunday I will snap some pics of the d-line angle.
Mcstiff 05-19-2004, 12:39 AM With the 20" wheel?
Yeah, how much space between the OD of the brake drum and the ID of the rim?
The Rockslut 05-19-2004, 12:40 AM Well, with 3" BS the wheel is no where close to the drum. Factory wheels are 20x9 with around 7" BS.
I will try to get a pic of the wheel/drum area.
crackhead 05-19-2004, 08:18 AM [QUOTE=The Rockslut]My rear shaft will be around 13" once I cut 3/4" of the pinion shortening the pinion conversion.
Damm thats going to be short. Atleast it will match the owners shaft. :flipoff2:
Amanda G 05-19-2004, 08:35 AM Damn dood! It looks so....SMALL compared to when I saw it last! :flipoff2:
The Rockslut 05-19-2004, 11:21 AM Alright both of you can just stop now :D
Yes the rear shaft will be a cute little 13" until I can pony up for an Atlas. At that point my d-line will grow to ~17". The front will be in the 36" length if anyone cares.
daren's tJ 05-20-2004, 05:46 AM Looking good so far. Hope to see the action shots soon.

CO, CALL WHEN YOU NEED THEM.
rockdiseased 05-25-2004, 07:05 AM sorry to revive an old post, but I noticed Rockslut said that he is now narrower than with the 1 ton stuff, and with 3" bs on the mogs. my understanding was that mogs are wider than standard full size stuff, how is it that you are now narrower?
by the way AWESOME RIG, you are doing exactly what I want to build next. :D
The Rockslut 05-25-2004, 08:43 AM My old setup was 69" wide GM D60 with 15x8 3.5" BS wheels and 39.5x15x15= 87" outside to outside.
Current setup, 69.5" Mog axle narrowed 6.5" (63"), 20x9 3" BS wheel and 39.5x13.50x20= 82" outside to outside.
Narrower axle with much narrower tires brought me in exactly where I wanted to be. The extra wheelbase is very welcome also. Now the body lift goes away and the overall height is where i want it also.
H8monday 05-25-2004, 11:13 AM Looks great Matt, cant wait to see you in the box, having some fun with it.
I like those axles,..good job.
You gonna be up on the Con for Mem day?
Keith Strong 05-25-2004, 11:54 AM Matt call me this week if you want to get tube ;) Gonna buy probably tues or wed of next week
The Rockslut 05-25-2004, 02:08 PM Not gonna be on the con for a few more weeks. I still have some more work to do. I also have to work until Sat night.
Keith, I wont be needing tube for at least a month.
66CJdean 05-25-2004, 05:31 PM Now the body lift goes away and the overall height is where i want it also.
Looks good!
Once the body lift goes away I think it will look even better and will nagate the loss of width too.
The Rockslut 05-25-2004, 07:25 PM Yep, after the BL is gone I will be 34" or less at the rocker.
rockhog 06-02-2004, 01:45 AM Looks good Matt! Damn man my Jeep seems so outdated now... :( .Sucks when you have to split money between Jeep and Hotrod!
