Chevy 350 TBI I.D. ??? [Archive]

I bought a complete Chevy 350 TBI that is in need of a rebuild. The engine was already pulled when I bought it and didn't have a tag to specify the year. Is there a site or way of telling what year and model the engine came out of by the seriel numbers??? I know it came out of a van because of the dipstick's length.

Check a Chilton's manual or call your dealer and have them run the VIN # as long as the engine is legit and not "permanantly borrowed"
