I bought a complete Chevy 350 TBI that is in need of a rebuild. The engine was already pulled when I bought it and didn't have a tag to specify the year. Is there a site or way of telling what year and model the engine came out of by the seriel numbers??? I know it came out of a van because of the dipstick's length.

In front of the pass. side cyl. head, there should be a small "tab" cast into the block (it's on the deck of the block, not the head), right behind where the alt. sits. It will have numbers and letters stamped into it. Clean it off, copy down the #'s, and take what you wrote to the closest Chevy dealer. They should be able to look up those #'s for you.

Find the numbers on the heads and on the back side and on top of the block then go to www.mortec.com and look up the numbers on their website.
