Guys,

what can I say but Thank You.! I recently pulled my noisy-disengaging
1356 tcase and found a bunch of stuff wrong inside. I am the kind of
person who does not allow dealerships to touch my trucks. and yet
when my daily driver breaks, it's pretty disheartening.

so, I bought a later model tcase for parts, (when I opened the 1995
bronco case, it was sooo clean, I could have just swapped my mainshaft
and ran it!)

but I already had bought a bearing/seal kit, and the shift forks...

so, I'm back on the road, I have a much updated case style now, and
all is good for me.

mucho thanks guys,!

are the newer cases shaped diferently?

externally no.

internally yes.

my 1990 f-250 case has a very small detent to retain the oil-pump arm.
it looks like two half-round shapes with about 3/8" between the 2.
the newer 1995 model case I am running now has a very noticable
squared detent shape moulded into the front case half. a considerable
design improvement over the 1990 version.

oil pump designs are the same, the seals have appeared to have changed,
but in the seal kit I got, the seals were the same as my 1990 design case.

I'd recommend to EVERYONE that has one of these cases in their vehicle
(primarilly a daily driver type usage rig) to do a rebuild on their case PRIOR
to making 100k on the clock...... it's always better to do your work when
you plan it, not when the truck decides it's already past due, and too late.

my kit cost was 160 bucks for: oil pump, seals, and full bearing kit.
