a few weeks ago i posted a question and recieved some great information. now i have a problem.

i bought the 157 tooth flywheel, 50 oz, 10 1/2" clutch and the F-250 bellhousing with hyd clutch. the starter does not engage the flywheel. this is all in an 86 5.0 bronco engine. the starter is too far out (wide) and the spur gear goes right past the flywheel teeth and there is approx 1/2" between them.

Any thoughts on this? do i need a larger dia flywheel? the local NAPA only lists one starter......is there a larger dia flywheel?

the 157 tooth flywheel is usually a 'car' aplication. you need to get the 164 tooth 'truck' flywheel. car/truck is relative as ford played mix and match with the flywheels. but what you need is indeed the 164 tooth.

Good luck.

Yep, any post 1981 302 flywheel will have the 50 oz imbalance.

look for a 302/351 in a truck/bronco/van in the 80's some might have the duel pattern for 10" and 11" clutchs.
