I tried to take off my YJ side steps but the bolts have underbody coating on them. Do I have to grind off the bolt to the nut or what?

Hit it with a propane torch for a couple seconds and the undercoating comes off with a putty knife.

that was what I was going to say, but on some past thread people said it could catch fire and would be hard to put out, although a wet rag would probably smother it out.
