Look'n good but I'm bit confused? Isn't the Toy radiator suppose to have the upper port on the other side???

Do you have any more pics of how you chained your motor mount down? I like it, that's the best pic I've seen thus far of that process. Any pics of below? I'm going to do mine and not exactly sure how I want to do it. Did you just weld a link to the frame and go up and over the top and to a bolt or something? Thanks.

The guy that I'm building this for is sponsored by a local wrecking yard so he found this 3 core out of a toy diesel truck along with the taurus fan for free

2 inch drop to help with drive lines and seat mounting

a2b
05-26-2004, 10:23 PM
really? still 2" drop even though your driveline is 6" shorter than #001....interesting....

oh and i dig the black drivetrane :cool2:

I think that seat clearance is the most important factor for mounting the dtrain lower. I'm lowering my seats another inch, but to do it over again, I would mount the bottom of the chasis at the top of the frame. I had to cut 3" out of the passenger seat to clear my clocked D300.

what he said...this going to be an all around family rig , he want no issues with funky vibrations, seat mounting and spinning drive shafts sticking through the floor...this will make building a nice floor easier too ...he also wants the drivers seat adjustable which makes it hard too... it's actuall only a 1 5/8" drop .. I mounted the bottom of the cross member flush with the bottom of the frame for a cleaner installation....

you sure are taking a long time to build a rig :flipoff2: Looking good Aaronn. How do you feel about setting up a waggy front for spring over pads? I don't feel like i should try welding to cast with my import 110 buzz box  PM if interested. I am leaving for DC thurs and will get back sunday.

If you wanna run less than a 5 foot upper radiator hose, get a 3-core out of a late 80's turbo truck, or the motorhomes. :smokin: I got a brand new one for less than 100 bucks.

wilson, i am mounting my chassis 1.5" above the side of the frame rail. my tcase is flat bellyed. the tabs on my prp seats are mounted 1" up from off the top of the framerail in order for the passenger seats to clear the top of the tcase. the driver side can be lower though. its just hte passenger side that is hard. with all that said, i have a 1/2 of a fist left above my HELMET to the top of the chassis. and a full fist without the helmet. also i am 6' tall. and my tcase is in the same place as aaron's. the other formulas have the tcase in other spots. but i dont think it matters, its still in the way.

i think the prp seats are wider than racecraftseats or beard.

but ya, lowering the tcase will make building the floor alot easier.

just out of curiousity, is it formula toy legal to clock the entire drivetrain like scott@rockstomper did? the rules dont say anything about it

yes, but he clocked his counter which would make matters actually worse if you want to put that passenger seat in

Hobie, you'll want to post up what yoor overall height is when you're done. I'm also 6' tall and wnated to keep the buggy at 6' tall. Now that it is on 39's, it's 6'2". I got about 1.5" of head clearance with my motocross helmet on.
