Screwed up!Ok check it out, A couple days ago I went to the DMV to get my 97 RM250 registered which I bought out of state. I also bought a 97 so that I would'nt get stuck with a red sticker since I've heard from people here on this board and other places that they go by the VIN# and manufacture date of 98 or newer. Well after a pain in the but getting it transfered over in my name, the lady said I had to go the CHP to get it inspected and that I would be receiving a "red sticker" Well the CHP said I had to make an appointment (Sacramento office) and that was'nt til the Jan 31st ( ) So I called the Placerville CHP and talked with them and they said come on up right now, so I did.

When I got there the Chipper checked it out and gave me the paper work needed to complete my registration. Then I asked him about the red vs green sticker and he basicly told me that the DMV was a joke and they did'nt even know whats going on.

Well I figured since I was up in Placerville that I would try my luck with them rather than Folsom or Rocklin DMV. And guess what...... I got a green sticker!!! So now I'm happy!! Point of the story..... If they try and give you a red sticker, RUN like hell to another DMV with an incomplete registration and try your luck with another department!!

your lucky as i thought it was 96 or older, and yes the pville dmv rocks. There used to be a lady at the auburn dmv that would license for the street anything you wanted, she told me one day she would license my lawnmower if i wanted to that after i left there it was between me and the chp

Vallejo DMV seems to be good also. At the honda dealership, not one bike they sold got a red sticker. me and my buddy bought our kx250s 6 months apart and both got green stickers. from what ive read, my vin says im supposed to have a red from like the 8th digit being a C or whatever. i hope that law passes that once green, always green
