Does anyone have thoughts on installing a stock coolant temp sender in my late model 5L GM V-8? The problem I am experiencing is all holes the tapped in the heads are too small for the AA bushing that adapts the stock gauge sender to the chevy earlier style heads? I am wondering if anyone has found a smaller temp sender that will work the Toyota gauges? Or some other solution?
BTW the intake has no room because it is a tuned port. Also dont want to disassemble just yet...And I want to keep the stock gauge working.
Thanks!

This might not help. I just removed a Toyota temp sender and GM adapter bushing from from the drivers side of the block under the head near the front of the engine. I imagine that you have looked at that route and you do not have that option. I have a mid 70s 350. Anyway, if that bushing will help you let me know.

old 350 have larger npt ports in the heads, newer are smaller. A friend of mine has the exact same problem.

I just bought what you need from MAF. Standard threads outside and tapped on the inside for the stock Toy sender:D
Part #716023 $6.00, and the sender was another $21

That MAF part is the AA part # 716023, which I have here and it does NOT fit the later Chevrolet heads because they are tapped for a smaller plug then the older heads which are tapped for the larger pipe tap.
I think I will have to find a thermostat housing with the larger pipe tap in it...from the emissions clogged 80's.

General Hospital-Sorry about sounding like an a$$.
Yeah, I realized it too after I bought when the AA folks told me it would fit the Chevy heads. Just not as late as the ones I have('91-ten years old). Just one more speed bump in this swap...
