: 1990 4Runner - Lower Ball Joint Replacement - Can I do it?

I'd prefer not to spend 250% more to have some lackey do it.

I'll state up front; I have limited tools. I will have the sockets & wrenches necessary, but as for anything else, it'll be BFH and a block of wood... Can I do this?

EDIT: I should have also stated up front that doing this would be a breeze for me with the proper tools. I just don't have them available. I'm looking (hopefully) for someone to say "Sure. Did it. BFH and sockets worked fine. It was easy" or "GOD. I wish I had just taken it in to have it done". This is not (yet) my truck, but I am about to embark on a 4,000 mile roundtrip in it, and I've been informed that one of my lower ball joints may not stay put for the whole 4,000 miles.

I appreciate any help you might have.

Thanks.

yeah, you can do it no problem. a 3' prybar would help tho, as well as a floor jack. once the nut is off the top of the ball joint, whack the knuckle with a hammer a couple of times, or use a ball joint seperator to split the joint.

other than that, it's a straight swap.

good luck

Thanks, man. Any worries about breaking peripheral parts? Anything I should be careful about? It's a fairly worn-out old beast... But it'll look great SAS'd on Q78's... One day. :D

Thanks again!
