Looking at tow rigs, Dodge seems to be the one we want. So what years should we look at and not look at for the diesel? Looking to spend 10-12k. And like the late 90s body style.

Any year recommendations?? How many miles is too much for the PSD??

That said, they are all good motors. 91.5 the intercooler was offered. 96 got a higher power motor, 98 got an optional 24v computor controled motor. 98 was also the frist year for the quad cab option (4 doors).

For 10-12K you'll probably be looking at a '94-'96 12V, or maybe a higher mileage '96-'98 12V. If you opt for a standard cab, a 2wd, or real high mileage, you can get something newer. The '91.5-'93's are nice, but the '94+ are much nicer IMHO. The manual trans is certainly prefered for reliabliity, but the auto isn't bad if you keep the engine stock. In '98, like Garret said, you could get both the 12V and 24V engines, and the Club Cab and Quad Cab. '98 was also the year the interior was redesigned with passenger side air bags.
