Which year waggy would be the best to get the 44's out of for a YJ swap? I went to pull and save, but wasn't sure which year model. Please help.

Your best bet would be to find the axles from an 85-91 grand waggy.. 44's front and rear... drivers side drop front, and no vaccum disco.

If you're going for both front and rear 44s and you want no vacuum disco and a driver's side pumpkin (in other words, ideal for a YJ double-axle swap) in front you want '87 to '91.

Mine came out of an '87.

For a front 44 any '80-91 Waggie will have one. The vacuum years to avoid are '83-84. For a rear 44 you are stuck with '87-91. Prior to '87 the AMC model 20 was used.
