: Getting Rid Of Gas (other than using it)
CJ Lagos 01-16-2002, 05:51 AM I need to get rid of about 10 gallons of gas. Right now it is in 5 gallon buckets...I don't want to put it in a car because I'm pretty sure there are contamanints in it. Anyway, how do I do this?
Thanks,
CJ
Welby 01-16-2002, 05:57 AM Other than using it in your lawnmower or blowing something up with it, I'm not sure. I would get that junk into some real containers though. I'd be afraid to have it sit around open in buckets, esecially in a garage :nuke:
fire comes into mind but maybe im just a pyro:mad3: :nuke:

Cutter 01-16-2002, 06:31 AM sit it in your neighbors back yard in a pan till it evaporates:D
FYRMAN 01-16-2002, 06:54 AM Call your local fire department and ask about Hazardous Material Disposal. It is the legal way to do it, and be prepared to be bent over and take it like DSI. Sometimes it ain't cheap!

HAHAHAHA :D
I just put it all in one container - and use that one for my leaf blower, weedeater, etc.
CoryB 01-16-2002, 07:16 AM CJ,
I live in Chesterfield so I'm not too far from you. When I had to get rid of some old unknown gasoline I put it into sealable containers - old milk jugs with screw on caps - labelled it as gasoline and took it to the landfill. They had a dropoff place for hazardous materials there.
Maybe call them first and verify which location to take it to because not all of them have the HazMat dropoff.
BabyWrangle 01-16-2002, 07:39 AM Just think....now you have 10 gallons of starter fluid :D
Archie_G 01-16-2002, 07:41 AM I would put one or two gallons in your truck everytime you filled up. In other words, dilute it with good gas. But the first thing I'd do is get that in a gas can before you blow up your shop

Whitewater 01-16-2002, 09:16 AM weedkiller?
My buddy used to do this with leftover gas etc... he'd pour it on a hill until a few years later he noticed all the plants on the downside of the hill died including Digger Pine/Manzanita etc... not just the weeds in the general area. Go ahead and do it but for your families sake I hope you don't use well water. The gasoline may evaporate quickly but the contaminants may leach into the soil and cause problems later.
gunracer1 01-16-2002, 09:21 AM go buy some of the solid oxygen pellets take the buckets to a good open area and drop the pettets in and run like hell. you wont have any gas after about 30 seconds, caution park anything you don't want destroyed at least 200 yards away.
Cutter 01-16-2002, 09:23 AM gunracer1 just gave me something to do today:D
CJ Lagos 01-16-2002, 09:35 AM Cory,
Thanks, I was gonna give the dump a try, I'll call.
I was hoping for some more serious responses :P...I've got the buckets outside my shop but I definately want to get rid of it soon.

so he has to run 200 yards fast enough not to get bit by the flames?
XJJack 01-16-2002, 11:33 AM Keep it around, it is great for geting rid of foam. Had bunch of the AB foam around that you run the liquid in the gun and mix and it groes to fill in space for packing, that stuff is hazardous to dispose of so you just put it in gas and it disapears.

Screwzer 01-16-2002, 05:04 PM That reminds me...
In other circles, I'm known as sparky due to an incident some years ago using 5 gallons of gas to start a brush pile.
:nuke:
I still want recipes for napalm....
Where do you get them O2 pellets anyway? Those could be lots o' fun...

Sillyneck 01-16-2002, 06:27 PM figure out who you don't like then take it all to their house....pour it everywhere then have a random person toss a match on the gas and run...two unrelated jobs :D you just wanted to put go on their house...the other guy was just tossing a match he used. :D no intent if you plead insanity :vader2: :nuke:
CrazyCraig 01-16-2002, 07:53 PM Works good as part washer.
take it back to the gas station and tell them they sold you bad gas:D
Wash greasy hands (works good at finding cuts)
Call an auto-body shop as ask them if they will take it, paint thinner is hazardous.
