I just hope I didn't create a MONSTER.....lol

For those of you who are unsure, about buy'n...... just wait I'm sure there will be more than a couple "used" units come up after some people find out it's not as easy or cheap as it looks:flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

(in an attempt to save lives)

PLEASE, be well practiz'd with the bender, notcher, welder.. before you EVER attempt something like a cage that is meant to save your life....PLEASE.

I've seen too many cages FAIL from people who shouldn't have even been around a shop, much less make'n stuff....

Now with that said, have fun:D:D:D:bender:

Yeah Dan, what Paul said. Along with all the other tools you'd need. What Tin Bender said too..

Yeah, already had a chat with a buddy who builds cages for a living, he was worried I was gonna try to cut into his market - I told him I have NO desire to build stuff for anyone else, looks like too much work and time involved... I am just too cheap to pay someone else to do it for me, so I bought my own bender and will learn how to bend like a king :p

Thanks Paul,

That would be cool. Guess the next is, what is the beverage of choice :D
I don't have Mikes number so we'll have to work that out.

I 'll hook up later on that.

Well I have been thinking about this for awhile........ You know all those home grown race car owners have had these benders for a long time but the 4x4 market up until recently had always eighter had there stuff professionally made or tube kits etc. I'm guessing that what changed the picture is the current buggy building trend where the tube work is so extreme that for some if they did not do it themselves they couldn't afford it or they are do it yourselfers anyways , and now its buggy time so it made sense to buy. Whatever the case may be the one thing for sure is that the sport of rockcrawling has changed forever, and theres no going back.
Cant wait to see what big $ trend comes next!

weldpro, I think you're 100% right. Look at the evolution of racing. There was a time no one had benders cept shops for racing as well... Then whole chassis were being constructed of tubing and thats when you saw guys put them in their garage

I finally got the call back from M-tech. "Mark" said I should have my bender (no degree ring), 2"/6.5/180 dies, and Notcher in 3 weeks. Total $656.46 to my door.

In 3 weeks all tubing hell is going to break loose!!!!!!   MUHAHAHAH!!!

Interesting... I see tube as a LOW buck option.

Consider this....

Just a normal body for a Toyota truck for example... Consider the repair costs of a comeplete roll-over, as well as the addition of a purchased cage kit.

Now compare that to the cost of a bender, tube, and either an exo-cage or full tube body that acts as a roll cage....

For my 1990 Toyota, having to replace just one door, side window glass, front fender, and windsheild covers the cost of the bender I just ordered.

Figure in a pre-fabbed cage kit (which a tube body or good exo would work as) and is it really more expensive?

Your thoughts are definately not what I was thinking. Im talking more about rockbuggy building as a whole package. What I mean is as opposed to a few years back when being locked up & geared , and having a decent size tire was good enough. I personally dont care which is why I wrote " cant wait till the next big $ trend comes" or whatever. In fact I really cant hardly wait to see what going to be the new thing but whatever it is it'll cost you for sure. Thats ok cause we all know you play you pay.

----- My 84 xcab was in excellent shape othher than a cracked windsheild , and small door dents, and one tweaked fender----------I cut the fawker out a week or so ago because I WANT an all custom buggy .
Are you doing the same to yours cause you rolled it???
I see what you mean about cost of replacement body parts etc. not that I didn't think that already --------my point WHO CARES I DID this cause I wanted to not cuase it might be cheap! in fact for me I spent $2135 m4/2dies/shipping + $193 for the notcher.

I cant belive I'm actually defending what I wrote when my whole point is about race car guys having these bender for quite some time as opposed to US.

Picture quality is not real great, and the cage is not completely done in these pic. I should have some up in a few days, with it painted and installed.
