Guys or Gals, Trying to figure out how to wire in my breakaway controller and battery to my trailer as the dealer didn't wire it correctly and I got no brakes on my trailer!

if ya don't get any answers before I get home this evening, i'll scan the diagram from my brake controller. It's from my Jeep hauler, but it do have brakes!:D (and sometime lights)

The breakaway switch... the cord you attach with the safety chains... or the brake controller itself?

The breakaway switch is easy. Find the breakaway battery. There should be a wire going from the negative side of the battery to a good ground. The wire coming off of the positive side should go to one of the wires on the breakaway switch. The other wire on the breakaway switch should splice into the brake wire.

So it goes:

ground--> 12v-
12v+ --> either side of breakaway switch (does not matter which side)
breakaway switch --> brake circuit.

Make sure your battery is charged, make sure none of the wires were stretched too tight and pulled loose, and that the brake circuit is working like it should before you dive too friggin deep into it. The guys that did the work should have tested it. Don't spend too much time on it. You paid them to have it work. Take it back and have it done right.

It would be nice in theory to take it to them but I found a web site that answered all my questions and was pretty much what you said but since the didn't test it as I was there we'll leave that one alone and the OEM Mfg that I called said they didn't warrant any electrical work and wouldn't provide any drawings due to liability...wish I would've known that up front but try this web site if anyone else needs help....http://www.tekonsha.com/barcat/bawiringbreak.html

They would not give you a drawing due to liability??? This wasn't Tekonsha was it? Doesn't sound right. Most of the breakaway switches I used came with a wiring diagram with a few other notes on it that I was instructed to give to the customer... huh...
