I KNEW I was gonna catch shit from you!:p Nah, this is for the next project, not the current one. I'm at work and I have some research time, so I thought I would use it wisely.

i can't say anything i keep about 10 projects going all the time. i was going full tube on the next one but have decided to go with a old fj55 and get classic tags on it. that way its street legal and i don't have to fool with inspections or emmisions test. hey do you have a # for buck he has not returned my e mails and i need to get the money he owes me.

you can take pictures of mine!! ha ha ha. dude if i did it again i'd get out the dune buggy catalogs i got here and buy a fully welded chrome moly tubing buggy chassis for about $500. there are about 15 styles to choose from. just tweek it for your application and go. a lot quicker. you can also save about $200 if you weld it yourself.

Pick up a copy of Hot VW's or Sand Sport mags. There are usually tons of ads for frames.

Or, www.dansperformanceparts.com has quite a selection.

What I'm really interested in is the frame part of the tube job. I'm want to do the double stacked tube support chasis, and I'm wondering how to get all the stacked bends to match up perfectly...

what a lot of people do is just go for it if things don't match up perfectly then they cut it and butt weld it back together with an internal sleeve and some plug welds. after the welds are ground flat it looks like it never happened and it is at least as strong, just a little heavier. Those sand rails wind up just over 1000 lbs and they have tubes in the frame cracking frequently If you start with one of those plan on adding quite a bit of tubing.

Didn't I see a rock buggy that was built with a sprint car frame. I forget who's it was...

I am going to build a tube frame for my toy pu. Haven't started yet so I don't have any pics. I thought at first about building double stacked tube frame, but I figure it will be easier to use 2x4 square tube. It works for the NASCAR guys, and a lot easier to mount stuff. It will weigh about 2 lbs per ft more that round tubing, but the weight is low on the rig.
