Hey Guys ______ I understand that the front diff. on a 60 series TLC is larger then the fj80 series TLC, is that correct? Also between the 60 series (not sure if 5sp. or 4), anyway between the 60 series and the fj80 series Auto which would be more desirable as an all around rig, you know, DD, Trail, dependability, less temperamental, parts availability longevity, you get the picture, putting aside the fact that the fj80 is more luxurious, just STRICKLY components of one versus the other. It seems the 60s are a lot cheaper and aside from the luxury issue ,what would I be getting extra for my money on a 80 series?????? .Anyways___________ THANKS BAYRUNNER

2 words on the FJ-80 - Optional e-lockers :D
The FJ-60 axles will have ALOT more aftermarket support.. You can use Longfields for the birfs, and of the minitruck hi-steer arms will work, lockers a-plenty, etc....
AFAIK, there's only one ($$$) hi-steer setup for the FJ-80 knuckles, and there really isn't any HD birfs or inners (other than full custom inners) available for the 80's.
FJ-80's cost more because they are newer. Around here, I was told that Lexus LX450's go for less than FJ-80's for some reason...

I currently have a BJ60 (for sale...) and an FZJ80, sold an FJ62 to buy the 80...
The FZJ80's axles are tougher than the 60's axles, disk brake full float rears and RR high pinion fronts. Factory front and rear lockers are also a plus.
As far as cost goes, a decent 60 will cost you more to build a decent wheeler out of than an 80.
Bench build one of each: Mild expedition type wheeling
Decent 60 $7K
Add:
Seats $500
Lift $800
Gears/Lockers $1800
Birfs $400
Decent Tunes $500
Rebuld/replace everything else $2k
OR
93-94 FZJ80
Be patient and find one with the lockers, turned down a 150K mile one last fall for $9200
Lets call it $10K
Lift $450...
done.
This assumes stuff like bumbers, sliders, tires, etc are the same cost for each unit.
And unless you buy a pig of an 80 or an ultra sweet 60 its a no contest
