Alright I did the search. I found nothing..... My powersteering pump is going out. Now that I added 35 inch tires it only works when I am moving:mad: I have a 258 engine and would like to find a replacment pump that would work with my engine. I want to try and find one at the pick and pull first but a jeep in the pick and pull in utah are non existant. So the question is........ Is there any non jeep pumps that will bolt up to the 258 engine without to many mods??? Also when this conversion is done I have a friend who is going to help me build a hydrolic assist so I need a good pump to run the box and hydrolic ram.

Pull the pump out of any vehicle equipped with a Saginaw pump (that's what your CJ has). The only differences you might find are the port for the return line and the type of fitting used on the pressure line. Anything '79 and older will have a flare type fitting on the pressure line and '80 and newer will use o-rings. You can remove the fitting from your existing pump and install it on the donor pump. A pump from just about any GM car or truck will easily swap into your Jeep. Any other Jeep (look for Waggies/Cherokees/pickups) or Eagle pump will work also.

i have heard that the pump out of a caddilac works real well (it is suposedly the same as AGR)

Just rebuild your pump. There is no reason for it not to work just fine. I'm still running the stock pump that came on my 84 Cj w/ a 258. Its been on 4 different motors. I'm presently running it with 38.5 X 14.50 swampers. Buy a rebuilt pump and swap it into your reservoir. Its only 2 or 3 bolts/fittings and a O-ring.

Make sure you flush your system! A small trans cooler on the return line will help too.

The rebuild will probbly be the way I go. I was just hoping I could find a junkyard unit that could put out little more pressure to help run the hydrolic assist im going to be putting in.

I was wondering if it would be possible to increase the pumps power by replacing the stock pulley with a smaller pulley. Much like a supercharger, the smaller the pulley, the more boost it produces. But you would also need a better flow of power steering fluid, hence, do what Aggro's write-up says.

Allright I played hookie from work today and did the wettexas modification. I also added a cooler to the system. Talk about a difference. I dont think im gonna need to rebuild the pumpanymore.
