I want to get a new speedometer for my 88 YJ..to go along with my other autometer phantom gauges..my question is this...I have the mechanical one now....was thinking about going with an electrical one...is this possible with the stock engine/tranny/transfercase of the jeep? Autometer shows an electric sender that they carrie which has the following specs:
part #5291
7/8" - 18 THD, Hall Effect sender, 16 pulse per rev. Includes pass-thru for cruise control.
Is this something i should do or do you think i'm better off with the mechanical? If i go with the mechanical one i'll need a new speedo cable because the autometer one is a screw on where as my stock one is a clip on...know where i can get a new one of these at and how long it needs to be? Also..does anyone know how the speedo cable hooks up in the tranny or transfercase..whichever it connects to..mine pulled out and i'm not sure how to reconnect it for the time being..and i'll need to know when i get the new one anyways. Thanks in advance.
