I have a 4.0L, 999 to a Dana 300 clocked in the second to highest position. I hear an intermittent grinding noise in the transfer case in 4 high only.

It happen while wheeling in the snow. I have check the fluid and the transfer case is not hitting the body at all.

Has anybody heard of this?

sounds like maybe your shifter is not engaging all the way.

Thanks YJTJ

I losened both twin sticks; slightly, they were really tight. I am going to try that and hopefully it works!

Yeah I would check that...the only time I've ever had any noises like that was from the dumbass that drives it not shifting it fully into place.

Goose, grab the front driveline and wiggle it around. I'll bet the front output yoke has a bit of play. If so, pull the four bolts off the front output bearing retainer and pull shims until the play goes away, but does not make the fawker toooo tight.
