: 203+205 one step farther
Cliffy [JD] 01-16-2002, 04:53 PM Ok Jess might (probably does) have a line on a "guy" or a "Place" that is prototyping a 3.0:1 205 Low gear set-up, add that to the WMS's 3.6:1 "Extreme" Low
203 Low + 205 Low = 10.8:1 :eek::eek::eek: Dayum!!!
So even with my measly 2.5 low Auto tranny and 4.10:1 R&P I'd be lookin' at 110.7:1 If you figure in the "theoretical" 2X reduction of the torque converter you have a SWEET 221.4 LOW RANGE in a fairly short package. and still have decent highway gears with 37's!!!!!!!!
So the price on the ORD doubler set-up is about $1000.00 and the WMS gears are $1000.00 and the low gearset for the 205 would hopefully be no more than $1200.00 so for a :smokin:  Cool $3200.00 (before tax) you could be staright pimpin'
Sorry couldn't stop myself.:rasta:
Cliffy [JD] 01-16-2002, 04:55 PM PS: clue me in if my prices or math is wrong anywhere, it did some of it in my head:(
Charles Aarons 01-16-2002, 08:03 PM On my F350 crewcab which is at 110:1 right now with ZF wide ratio, 4.88s and ORD doubler, I could have a tripler with 3.6 in 2nd 203 and 3.0 205 = 600:1. Is that enough????
It's really an obsession at this point since I'll never do "competitive technical rockcrawling" with a 21.5' 10,000 lb expedition truck. I wish I'd had the 3.6 option when I did the doubler last year, though.
Charlie
why not twin toyota cases? not knowing what tranny you have but lets divorce mount these case's.
OTT Divorce Kit $325
Marlin T-Case W/4.7 gears $1050 ($150 Core)
Marlin Adapter $449
Marlin Second reduction box $150
So for $1974 plus shipping you got a 10.7 to one t-case assembly
FULLSIZE 01-16-2002, 08:33 PM toy cases = girly compared to a 203/205 doubler. in a fullsize theres no way a toy case would live. thats sweet, 10.8 with that much beef!:D
I ran into a sweet deal on a 2.7 to 1 Klune V and a 3.8 to 1 Atlas II. $2900.00 with shafts was too good of a deal to pass up.
(I almost got divorced because of it) :D
With my AW-4 trans I have a gear for just about anything. Having a 10.26 to1 compound low range is a sweet set-up.
Now I just need the HP D60 and a 14 bolt for the icing on the cake. :D
Toy case Girly??? but if you are looking at price you wont beat it. i bet it is just as strong as a 203/205 and prolly half the weight.
Highlander 01-16-2002, 11:00 PM Well the girly cases are on a buddys blazer with 1 ton axles and big block and they havent exploded after being beat all year!:D

there is no way toy cases can compare to 203/205 just look at the shaft sizes 21 spline vs. a possible 32 spline, factory yoke options 1350 /1410 etc.
the bullet proof reputation of a 205 is unquestionable in almost any application its not engine size that effects durability but more importantly gear input the farther down the line you go on stacked gear boxes the stronger things need to get

are you serious about someone working on regears for the 205?
Cliffy [JD] 01-17-2002, 11:10 AM Of course I am check this out: Read Jess's comments (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25159) He's the man with the Possible low gear 205 set-up

Im not sure of the length right now but those prices are the 23 unbreakable version.
Gordon 01-17-2002, 12:55 PM I don't think the toy case is near as strong as a 205, but I think it is probably stronger than a dana 20 or 300, weaker than an atlas. but that is plenty strong for a light rig. I think it is the best designed transfer case I have ever messed with, just not the strongest.
