Having trouble getting good pedal and the booster seems not to be the culprit. Today after putting the new shifter in I noticed a small leak of brake fluid running down the booster coming from the back end of the master cylinder. Could this be it and if so do I rebuild or by another one and where? Thanks.

You can rebuild or buy new. Depending on the year, the dealer or SOR or any of the other Cruiser businesses can get you the parts.

You have a bad master cyl. I would only buy new. And Aisin only. Liquidoffroad.com has good deals on masters.

Marlin sells FJ80 MC for $150. I put one on my FJ60 when I went through the front end.

David, if there's ANY possibility that it is still the original master cylinder, don't even consider rebuilding it. It's just too gosh darn OLD!
I am not opposed to rebuilding on a unit that is a. fairly new AND b. is being used as a daily driver. If you don't use the rig regularly, you'll be better off getting a replacement unit. I also don't have a problem with aftermarkets: I've been selling them for 14 years now; only had 2 problems.
